Zoo babies

Today was mother's day and like all new mommas, I wanted to take my baby somewhere fun for the occasion. Never mind the 70% chance of severe storms that had been darkening my plans for the weekend...I wanted to go to the zoo! So, we packed up the umbrellas, a blanket to throw over the stroller and headed out the door. Jeremy took one look at my purple flip flops and said "you are going to wear some other shoes, right?" (I changed into my birkenstocks, remembering my last flip flop disaster.) The rain chances didn't keep the sun from coming out, though, and we had the perfect day for peering in at the animals and taking lots of pictures.
Kira loved to look around, although she was more interested in the people than the animals themselves. We spent lots of time trying to show her the elephants, rhinos, and monkeys...she wanted to check out the kids next to us. Oh, well. She looked mighty cute in her "going to the zoo" outfit. Her favorite exhibit was the aquatic center (and we have fish at OUR house!). She giggled and kicked her chubby little legs all around and watched as the fish darted about in the tanks.
The clouds stayed far to the West of us all day and Kira managed to nap enough that Jeremy and I went out to dinner (seafood, in case Kira wanted to watch the lobsters in the tank!). Home, tired, and full, the clouds are just now rolling in...
