What's That Noisy?
Last night we had a huge thunderstorm, typical of Spring in Oklahoma, roll in at about midnight. Kira had been asleep for a few hours and usually sleeps through them, but this one was much louder than usual (and her window was open). I was half asleep when I heard her, still in bed, scream..."what's that noisy?!?!" right after a particularly loud clap. Then, the thud as she hit the ground running for the door. If that wasn't enough, when she got to the door, it was stuck shut from the humidity. I rescued her in less than 60 seconds, but she was visibly shaken...and literally shaking. She was shaking like she does when she is really sick and she bolted past me in a streak of terror. I tried to chase her down, but she needed to run off the excitement, I suppose. She did a few laps around the house, yelling...WHAT'S THAT NOISY?!?!? and clutching her beloved Ratchet and yellow blankie, finally collapsing in my arms and whimpering "yo bed, momma, yo bed."
So, I tucked her into my bed. As soon as her sweet little curly head hit the pillow, she fell fast asleep. And slept through the rest of the storm until morning.
