kira the red nosed baby

If it wasn't bad enough that she had the stomach flu and had already managed to throw up in not one store, but TWO! We were in Old Navy the first time. I managed to "catch" it all in her stroller that time. Not being the seasoned mom of a one year old, I thought it would be smart to run next door to grab some crackers at Babies R Us to calm her tummy. I thought it was from drinking too much milk that morning. It wasn't. She did it again. On my feet at the checkout counter. The cashier answered "no" rudely and didn't even look up when I asked if she had a towel or anything. I calmly said..."well, my baby just threw up all over your floor. sorry." We soon had a mop and bucket and a big yellow "caution" sign under our feet. I won't be going back there for a while.
Anyway, like I said...if that wasn't bad enough, Kira was running across the floor when we got home (she seemed to feel fine between the nasty episodes) and tripped over her own shoe. She didn't just hit the floor...she slid. On her nose. Leaving a nice red skid mark to show what had happened. It's actually kind of cute. A little crease over her tiny perfect "Hoover" nose. If only it hadn't had to hurt so darn bad!

blagger looder ligger lou

Kira has been watching us closely when we talk, trying to figure out how to make those words come out of her mouth. Some of them she has figured out fairly well, but others are more difficult. Her latest discovery is that we use our tongue when we talk. However, she hasn't figured out how to use it to make the right sounds...so, everything comes out with the "L" sound in it now. Blagger, looder, ligger, lou, bliggerdy blogerly, blou. It is quite hilarious. She even raises her voice up and down like we do when we make our sentances. And you can tell she thinks she is making perfect sense!

Man overboard!

Kira always signals the end of naptime, not with crying, but by tossing her paci out of the crib. Sometimes I don't even hear her wake up, but she has managed to pull herself up to standing without a word and then...clunk! Out goes the paci onto the floor. And if there happens to be more than one of the coveted pacis in the crib, both go out...clunk...clunk! It's as if to say "I only need paci when I am sleeping...and I am DONE sleeping now!" Poor paci.

it's been a month

Ok, ok...it's been a month since I've posted a new entry. In all honesty, we've been sick for a month! Not just one thing, but one thing after another. So, I'll try to catch you up in the next few posts.
