Old Journal Entry:
Kira is growing so fast these days. She is making efforts to sit by herself and she can scoot (inchworm style) all around the living room. Nevermind the blanket we put down for her...she's more interested in scooting on the hardwood floor! Mom spends a lot of time dusting and making sure the floor is clear of splinters! She loves to use the new voice that she has found...makes new noises every day. And she is no longer content to just sit in our laps, but must STAND and get a better view on things. It really is a fun time for us all as she reaches so many new milestones. We attended the gymboree play class yesterday, but Kira didn't enjoy it as much as the music class. We have to admit she takes after her daddy on this one. We have 2 more trial classes to attend, but it looks like we have a music lover on our hands! We are very sad to have to look for a new babysitter, and we hope that Miss Tiffany is going to be back on her feet soon. We think about her every day and hope that she is finding some sunlight and joys in her life. For the summer, we have chosen to rely on our close friends and family to pull us through the long work days. When August arrives, if all goes according to plan, we hope to find a more permanent solution with Jamie and Aviv across the street from our home. We would love to see the girls spend more time together, and hope that two babies so close in age will not be too much of a handful for one adult! It really would be the perfect solution! As spring arrives (in waves of warm and cold this year), Kira is learning that momma likes to spend most of her time outdoors in the yard. She is very content to sit in her swing while I mow the yard, play with toys on a blanket while I plant flowers or just spend time in my lap enjoying it all. She is very good at keeping her hat and sunglasses on and is learning to tolerate momma slathering her with sunscreen lest she have her daddy's fair skin.We haven't taken a lot of pictures in the past month, but what we have are now posted under the 5 month picture forum!

Kira went to her first music class today! She had so much fun playing with the other babies! Miss Ginger was very impressed and said that most babies are a little overwhelmed at her age, but not Kira! She especially loved bouncing face to face with other babies! We are also going to try out the Gymboree classes to find the best fit for her.She now has 2 teeth, but darn it all if I can't get a picture of them. She likes to keep them hidden behind her tongue. Thank goodness they are here, though. We have a much happier baby! She is loving her new oatmeal cereal, and takes it once a day with no trouble. What's next?Kira slept in her crib last night. Of course, it was very sad for momma, but Kira did just fine. It was actually her 2nd night in the crib, but the first was by accident when a late evening nap stretched into nighttime sleep! I still brought her back with us after her 5:30 feeding, but most of the night she was in her own room.

april 10

We've been trying to decide the best time for Kira to get her first cereal. She can sit up almost all by herself now and loves to sit in her bumbo seat. She has also been very curious about mommy and daddy when they eat...watching every bite go from plate to our mouths. Last night we looked over and she was imitating my while I was chewing! It was hysterical! She would chew while I was chewing and stop and smile when I would stop chewing! Now that she has her first tooth and is so interested in food, we decided to give it a try. So, out came our sample of Beech Nut Rice Cereal and her bowl and spoon. (Momma loves Beech Nut because it is organic and soy free.)
She LOVED it! I thought she might push it away since she hates the bottle so much, but she would have eaten the whole bowl if I had let her! She was reaching for more and opened her mouth like a little bird! I think she might have even managed to swallow some of it, but a lot ended up on her bib.

april 3-9

We have the best baby, we really do! Kira went with mommy and spent all day at the church setting up for Amy'y wedding yesterday. She played on her blanket with her toys and even managed to get her paci in her mouth by herself everytime! She fussed a couple times when she got hungry, but was otherwise so good! She had fun at the wedding, too! She looked so cute in her little pink plaid sundress!

Kira has her first tooth! Last night she was up ALL NIGHT wanting to nurse and play. She wasn't fussy at all, but I told Jeremy that I thought her tooth would be here soon. Aunt Andrea called Thursday morning to say it was poking up through her gums! Woohoo! Finally!

Kira is in size THREE diapers now! I can't believe it! I bought them on sale at Target today thinking they would be WAY too big, but they fit! OMG! Where has my tiny baby gone?!? I sure do love the new bigger version, though! :)

We took Kira on her first picnic today! It was so much fun! We got KFC and took her to the park for a breezy but warm picnic dinner. I can't wait until she's big enought to play on the swings and slides!
