February 26, 2005Momma has gone back to work. First day went great...Kira stayed with Aunt Andrea who was nice enough to bring Kira to work TWICE! Kira seemed a little confused by the end of the day, but managed to drink a little from her bottle and nap once, too. The next day, Kira made up for lost time. She didn't let momma out of her sight at all. She was fussy when I tried to put her down and wanted to eat A LOT! I guess she is afraid I'm going to leave her again...Which I had to do Saturday. Just one day off between work days is rough. Kira went to her babysitter's house this time and was away from me for 13 hours. Yucky. She didn't want to drink out of the bottle much, but managed 3 bottles that day. Not much of a napper, though.I was SO glad to be home with her today, but she is again not letting me out of her sight...not napping, and wanting to eat constatly. I gotta love a baby who loves her momma, but I am EXHAUSTED! 12 hour work days are bad enough. Not getting any rest or alone time on my days off is so tiring. I can't believe it is 5:30pm and she hasn't napped since getting up this morning! Not only that, but she wants to be held close to me. And, she has eaten so much that I can't believe there is any left for her! I am on call tomorrow and was told that I WILL be called in...and I have to work the very next day. No rest for the weary. I hope we can all get used to this soon.
February 22, 2005Kira went to visit her friend Aviv today and babbled at her a bunch! She thought it was funny when Aviv rolled herself over, but hasn't figured out how to copy the move yet. She has discovered that there are actually TOYS on her activity mat, though and is busy playing with the various toys that hang from the bar above her head!
February 21, 2005Kira was baptised on Sunday in New York! We learned that it is not easy to get through security with a newborn and all her stuff, but Kira tolerated the flights well. We had a couple of rough landings, but otherwise, she slept through most of the trip there and back. Everyone thought she was a cutie! Too bad we did not have our pink boots in New York as there was snow on the ground the whole time! Kira met lots of friends over the weekend! She had a dinner in her honor at grandma's house with the Greens and Philos. She also won over the congregation at church on Sunday as she yawned through grandma's words of wisdom. She wore her purple french poodle dress, which was a hit! Sunday afternoon, more friends came over to meet and spend time with her. Grandma took mommy and Kira to breakfast at her "regular" spot on Monday morning before we left for the airport.Kira spent most of the rest of the time with grandma unless she was eating or sleeping. We were sad to leave, but grandma says she's coming to visit in late spring.
February 14, 2005Today is Valentine's Day, but we won't be celebrating like momma had planned. Kira has her first cold and she does NOT feel good. :( She can hardly breathe through her nose and is finally asleep in her swing. Poor baby. It makes momma and daddy's hearts hurt to see her sick. She is so frustrated that she can't breathe that she gets all worked up. Thankfully, Jeremy came home from work early today and broght with him a vaporizer, baby vicks, and some saline drops and she is doing MUCH better now. Lots of sleep and TLC for her. She must feel better before the weekend, because we have a big trip planned!
February 4, 2005Kira met her granddaddy Painter this week! She loves him and thinks he is F-U-N-N-Y! She will just "talk" away to him like she is having a whole conversation! We are so glad she is feeling better after those shots.
February 2, 2005Today was Kira's first visit to Dr Rhonda Sparks. We have been doing all her other weight checks and things by phone (a privilege of being a nurse!). We took Aunt Andrea with us for moral support, knowing that she would be getting several shots today! She is in the 95th percentile for both height and weight and comes in at 13 pounds and 24 1/2 inches long (no time to update her stats on the home page!). The visit went well and she spent most of the time studying Rhonda while Rhonda checked her out. She did NOT like the shots, but didn't even cry as loud as she did at the post office (or the day I clipped her finger a little when trying to cut her fingernails). I fed her, she fell asleep, and we came home. When she woke up, though, she let us KNOW that she does not feel well. Oh, the sad cry and all the tears...made momma very sad. Jeremy and I took turns rocking her and I fed her until she fell asleep again. Poor baby. Stupid shots. On the bright side, we got Kira's new bumbo seat yesterday! Since it is the latest and the greatest, momma just had to order one! It is a seat designed to let baby's sit up even when they can't normally sit up by themselves. It is made for 3 months and up, but Kira has great head control so I tried it out. She has a little trouble keeping her trunk from sloutching, but she LOVED it! Since I don't want to screw up the site again, please click HERE to see her picture in the bumbo seat!
